Before becoming a full-time writer in 2010, Charles Wilkinson’s work appeared in magazines and anthologies, including London Magazine, Signals 2 (London Magazine Editions), Best Short Stories of 1990 ( Heinemann), The Minerva Book of Short Stories 3 (Minerva), Kudos and The Tennessee Quarterly.

His short story collections include The Pain Tree and Other Stories (London Magazine Editions, 2000), which was favourably reviewed in The Spectator ( Paul Binding); The Times Literary Supplement( Sarah Curtis), The Literary Review ( John Murray) and London Magazine (Digby Durrant). Two of his collections of weird fiction and strange tales have been published by Egaeus Press: A Twist in the Eye (2016) and Splendid in Ash (2018).
